Yellowstone Trip Report – Spring 2026
A running field report from Yellowstone and the roads leading to it. Wildlife, quiet mornings, roadside dinners, long drives, missed shots, good light, bad weather, and the occasional moment that makes the whole trip worth it. Not every trip starts with a perfect photo. Sometimes it starts with a long drive north, gas station lights, and the feeling that something interesting is waiting just ahead.

Learning this off the Unplugged record. It's an old blues, Lead Belly's before it was anybody's, and Clapton slows it down until it's barely moving. That's the whole trick. The chords are easy. The hard part is leaving enough room between them and not rushing to the next one. Working the turnaround at the end of each time through and trying to keep the right hand loose. Some nights it sits right, some nights it doesn't.
