Father and Son
Cat Stephens
Working on
The whole song
Notes
I've been wanting to learn Father and Son for a while now. It's one of those songs that just gets to you, you know? There's something about it that feels timeless. Cat Stevens wrote something really special there.
What surprised me is how playable it actually is. I kind of assumed it would be way above my level but once I sat down with it, the chords came together pretty naturally. The fingerpicking has a nice flow to it once you stop overthinking and just let your hand do its thing.
I'm still working through it and my transitions need some cleaning up, but honestly I'm just happy to be playing it. Sometimes a song is worth learning just because it's beautiful, and this one definitely is.
