Bryan Adams made a rock and roll record and got Jeff Lynne to produce it. That tells you most of what it sounds like before the needle drops. Clean, layered, every part sitting exactly where Lynne put it.
It’s short. Nine songs and you’re done, and then it hands you four of them back as acoustic versions, which is either a bonus or an admission that nine wasn’t quite enough. “You Belong To Me” is the one that stuck with me. “Go Down Rockin'” does what the title promises and not much else.
Nobody in 2015 needed Bryan Adams to reinvent himself, and he didn’t try. It’s him doing the thing he does, kept short and cleaned up. The acoustic takes at the end are better than the bonus-track slot they got.
