Tough Town

Record Store Day has a reliable way of separating you from your money. This one I don’t regret. Tough Town is ten tracks that were previously CD-only on the Roll With The Punches box set, now on limited grey vinyl. Which means if you missed the box set, you’re welcome. If you bought the box set, you own these twice now. Congratulations to both of us.

It sounds like Bryan Adams. That’s not a knock. Big hooks, clean production, the kind of songwriting that doesn’t overstay its welcome. “You’re Awesome” is exactly as straightforward as it sounds. “Someone’s Daughter Someone’s Son” closes the record quietly and earns it. “Tonight In Babylon” is the one I keep going back to.
